Yesterday kick-started UF’s first annual Sexual Assault
Awareness Week. Student Government created a short video to launch this week
and to inform students about all of the sexual assault prevention and education
resources available at UF. In conjunction with Sexual Assault Awareness Week
Angela Rose, a sexual assault survivor and activist will be sharing her
testimony at 7pm in the University Auditorium. Doors open at 6pm and admission
is free so if you don’t have anything going on you should stop by to hear Ms.
Rose speak on the dangers of sexual violence.
I would also like to thank everyone who came out to the banner
signing in the Plaza of the Americas yesterday. It is great to see our
community coming together to raise awareness and keep Gainesville safe. Also, with
the recent attacks on and around campus I hope that students will take
advantage of all the safety resources available at UF. If you haven’t already I highly encourage
everyone to download Uber and TapShield to help keep traveling from place to
place as safe as possible.
Have a great rest of the week. You can follow @ufsbprez on Twitter and instagram to stay updated on everything we are doing this week!
